Yosemite Falls Summit
Climb to the Top of North America’s Tallest Waterfall
The Yosemite Falls Summit Hike is one of the most iconic—and rewarding—day hikes in all of Yosemite National Park. Rising from the valley floor to the top of Yosemite Falls—the tallest waterfall in North America—this route is a true test of endurance, determination, and spirit. What begins as a steady climb quickly transforms into a sustained ascent up a series of relentless switchbacks, gaining over 2,700 feet in just a few miles.
Along the way, the perspective shifts dramatically. We’ll pause at scenic overlooks to catch our breath and take in increasingly expansive views of the valley below—each one more impressive than the last. With the right timing, spring snowmelt sends powerful ribbons of water cascading over the cliffs, adding an elemental energy to the experience.
At the summit, we’ll explore the area above the falls, where the Merced River gathers itself before plunging nearly 2,500 feet to the valley floor. Here, away from the crowds, the landscape opens into a quieter, more expansive side of Yosemite. We’ll take time to rest, refuel, and soak in panoramic views that stretch across the high country— including distant peaks, Half Dome from a unique vantage, and the vast wilderness beyond.
This is a challenging hike, no question—but it’s also deeply rewarding. With a fully customizable pace, plenty of time to pause, and the support of an experienced guide, this experience is designed to meet you where you are while still delivering a true sense of accomplishment.
Whether you’re pushing your limits, chasing big views, or simply looking to experience Yosemite from a new perspective, the Yosemite Falls Summit Hike delivers a powerful and awe-inspiring day in the mountains.
